A Memorable Cigar Event in Sofia, Bulgaria

I am thrilled to share the incredible experience of hosting my first in-person cigar event in Sofia, Bulgaria. This event, held at the prestigious Cohiba Atmosphere, was a resounding success, thanks to the outstanding support and hospitality of Kaliman Caribe.


Friday: Arrival and Exploration


On Friday afternoon, I had the pleasure of greeting our distinguished guests as they arrived at Sofia Airport. The excitement was palpable as we checked into our hotel, setting the stage for a weekend filled with camaraderie and exceptional experiences.

Our first adventure took us to La Casa Del Habano, located in the Hotel Intercontinental in the city centre. The ambience of this esteemed cigar shop was perfect for our initial gathering. We explored an exquisite selection of cigars, sharing recommendations and building anticipation for the evening ahead.



From there, we headed to the Ozone Sky Bar, where we were treated to an amazing sky view of Sofia. The panoramic vistas of the capital city were breathtaking, providing a stunning backdrop for our conversations. It was a perfect way to introduce our guests to the city's charm and beauty.




As the evening unfolded, we received a gracious invitation to a private executive gentleman's club. I want to extend a special thank you to Stoyan Chavdarov and especially Ivo Vachkov for hosting us. Mr. Vachkov's warm welcome and impeccable hospitality made the evening truly memorable. It was an intimate setting where we could unwind and enjoy fine cigars and Single Malt Scotch generously provided by Mr. Vachkov in excellent company.


Saturday: A Day of Leisure and Preparation


Saturday began with some leisurely free time, allowing everyone to explore Sofia at their own pace. Around lunchtime, we ventured to the beautiful Vitosha Mountain, where we dined at Restaurant Vodenitzata. Nestled in a picturesque location, the restaurant offered a delightful escape from the city's hustle and bustle.



We indulged in traditional Bulgarian cuisine, savouring dishes that were both rich in flavour and cultural significance. The meal was complemented by a tasting of traditional Bulgarian grape rakia, a local spirit that added a unique touch to our dining experience. Of course, no meal would be complete without a fine cigar, which we enjoyed in the serene mountain setting.

Returning to the hotel, we took some time to rest and prepare for the highlight of the weekend. The anticipation for the main event grew as we got ready, knowing we were in for an extraordinary evening.


The Main Event: An Unforgettable Evening


At around 7 pm, we arrived at the Cohiba Atmosphere, where we were warmly greeted by the outstanding teams of Kaliman Caribe, Cohiba Atmosphere, and Vinopoly. The welcome we received set the tone for an evening that would exceed all expectations.





I would like to extend a massive THANK YOU to Mr. Rosen Borisov for his exceptional efforts in organising this event. His meticulous planning and attention to detail were evident in every aspect of the evening.


A special thank you to Mrs. Olia Docheva, General Manager of Kaliman Caribe, for her incredible generosity. Each guest received a complimentary Hoyo de Monterrey Monterreyes No.4 Limitada 2021 and a bottle of 18-year-old Rum Flor De Cano for us to share.







This unexpected and thoughtful gift was graciously accepted by all.


The Cohiba Atmosphere lounge provided an unparalleled setting for our gathering. The ambience, service, and overall experience were exceptional. The warm and inviting atmosphere allowed everyone to relax and enjoy the evening to the fullest. The hospitality of the Cohiba Atmosphere lounge was unmatched, and I was deeply impressed, as were all our guests.



We spent the evening savouring a variety of cigars, each one offering a unique and delightful experience. The cocktails were expertly crafted, adding to the enjoyment of the evening. Engaging in stimulating discussions with fellow cigar enthusiasts made the night even more special. It was a time of sharing, learning, and connecting over a shared passion for fine cigars.


Sunday: A Bittersweet Farewell


Sunday was a day of mixed emotions. Some members of our group chose to return to Cohiba Atmosphere for a final coffee and cigar session, relishing the last moments of the event. Others decided to relax at the hotel, reflecting on the weekend's experiences.

In the evening, it was time for farewells as the group began to depart. It was a bittersweet moment—while it marked the end of an unforgettable event, it also signified the success of my first in-person gathering. The weekend had been filled with remarkable experiences, new friendships, and a deepened appreciation for the art of cigar smoking.
